Problem

Child Find Manitoba is a charitable, non-profit organization focused on locating lost or abducted children, prevention of child abuse and education of children and parents.

Velocity has partnered with Child Find Manitoba since 2001 on many projects including: Developing the first Internet Tipline in Canada addressing the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet – The website is called cybertip.ca and operates through Child Find Manitoba. We ensured the Cybertip website was informative and content was organized in a meaningful way for the user. We spent a significant amount of time storyboarding at the beginning of the project. The information needed to be easy to access and easy to read for a wide demographic, so we designed the website with simple navigation and legibility.

Solution

Providing full campaign development to support the cybertip website –- In addition to the website, we designed the English cybertip logo, brochure, posters, stickers, and custom illustrations as well as coordinated the launch of the website. We chose bright, primary colours to use throughout the campaign and whimsical illustrations that appeal to both children and adults.

Designing the cybertip materials in French – We knew English text, when translated into French, is about 20% longer. We planned the increased need for space into the design so it would be effective for both English and French components. Based on our experience, upfront planning was critical. This approach saved time and money associated with a re-design and kept the project on schedule.

Re-designing all of Child Find Manitoba’s existing material – We designed the Child Find Manitoba website, annual report, general brochure and Amber Alert brochure. We also designed all of these materials in French. We also developed materials for Kids in the Know. It educates children on issues such as luring and safety. For this program, we designed the logo and illustrated a full curriculum to be used in school systems throughout Canada in 2004. We also illustrated and designed two children’s books called Hooty Knows and Benji Bunny Brings his Buddies.
