More calls. More inquiries. More bookings. Bigger sales.
Velocity puts your slow days behind you.
You’re familiar with us already — for over 14 years you’ve seen our branding and marketing work on the web, on buses, on buildings, heard it on the radio, and mentioned it to friends. We use innovative ideas and powerful design to get businesses working harder than ever before.
From established corporate institutions to up-and-coming entrepreneurs, professionals hire us to help solve their business problems and improve sales.
We do this by making a clear, unbiased examination of an organization’s strengths and weaknesses, and using the insights we gather to write a brand and marketing strategy. Those ideas are combined with clever design, which adds up to a powerful brand.
And a strong brand means strong sales.
It’s hard work building a business, but it’s even more work running a business that’s enjoying unprecedented growth. We’re ready when you are.

WoTW #28 – Do Androids Dream of Electric Treats?
Velocity’s Wallpaper of the Week by Karla Burr, Do Androids Dream of Electric Treats?, is somewhat influenced by the work of novelist Philip K. Dick and cartoonist Jim Meddick. Gaze deeply into the wallpaper, and contemplate whether artificial intelligences will one day crave cold, sugary, dairy-based snacks. For best effect, listen to the music of Phillip Glass: http://velc.it/lnn8Ed
On the trail of Karla Burr’s Maylines entry from April 29, comes Colette Boisvert’s Wallpaper of the Week, Lillehammer Pond. Continuing in a Minimalist direction, Lillehammer Pond could be considered a Geometric Abstraction or Colour Field, comparable to the work of Kenneth Noland, or Barnett Newman. I can’t help but think of the work of M. C. Escher though; I’m anxiously hoping for an interlocking mass of square-headed green and yellow toads to come hopping into frame. 2560 x 1440
Velocity was recently contracted by longtime client Grain Insurance & Guarantee to redesign their website to coincide with the arrival of their new President and CEO. Velocity designed the original site Grain Insurance site, and after a number of years, they felt it was time for a much needed overhaul.
Designed by Creative Director Karla Burr, and programmed and executed by Interactive Designer Lee Froese (with contributions by the entire Velocity team), the new site helps to better position Grain Insurance as a nationwide corporation. Known for their variety of insurance products, the new site does a better job of showcasing the excellent selection of insurance packages they offer, in particular the speciality / niche products they’re well known for.
Site Features
Design was updated, with cleaner typography, larger text, and easier to navigate pages. Copy was streamlined for readability. Overall, a much more user-friendly site.
Built on WordPress and features HTML5.
Flash on the old site was scrapped in favour of the mobile-friendly jQuery library, for simple animations.
The News section is geospecific to whichever region of Canada you are in; a user in Toronto or London will automatically see the Grain Insurance Ontario-regional news as the primary option.
Check out our work, and read more about the policies and packages that Grain Insurance has to offer, at graininsurance.com
WotW #25 – The Maylines
This week’s wallpaper of the week is an elegant and decidedly minimalist entry by Creative Director Karla Burr. Simple birch trunks, in a style reminiscent of something halfway between Piet Mondrian and Bill Watterson, with just a hint of asian calligraphy. Lovely.
